Full-time Advocate/Counsellor
If you are a feminist with counselling and advocacy experience, plus an understanding of the impact and dynamics of men’s violence against women and girls in intimate relationships, sexual harassment and sexual exploitation, prostitution and sex trafficking, we want to hear from you!
The London Abused Women’s Centre is an abolitionist, anti-pornography agency. Women applying should support these views.
We are looking for a feminist with the following skills and experiences:
- five years’ experience providing woman-centred, trauma-informed support, advocacy and counselling to women and girls abused by their intimate partner, trafficker and/or sex purchaser
- advocacy on behalf of women and girls at individual, community and institutional levels
- supporting women and girls who have been prostituted/trafficked/sexually exploited/assaulted/tortured
- working with women and girls from diverse cultures
- experience with women being abused in a same-sex relationship
- supporting women accessing the criminal justice or family law systems
- French, Spanish, or other second language skills are an asset
- access to a vehicle

Full-time Operations Manager

Key Duties/Responsibilities:
- Manage the financial affairs of the London Abused Women’s Centre in consultation with the Executive Director. Responsible for deposits, payment processing, bank reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable. Prepare financial statements and reports
- Responsible for payroll, benefits administration including RRSP
- Manages operation aspects of personnel administration
- Provides ongoing liaison, coordination and related support with fundraising and events program such as reports, accounting, and tax receipts
- Acts as recording secretary at the Board of Directors meetings. Attends all scheduled meetings and records, processes and distributes minutes
- Responsible for the maintenance of the physical office and equipment. Manages computerized programs and the supervision of computers including the maintenance of hardware and software
- Provided back-up for the Program Assistant. Answer phones, direct calls, maintain and update client files where necessary. Greet and provide support to clients in preparation for their appointments
Skills/Experience:
- 5 years of experience in similar role or equivalent education
- Background in accounting
- Must have experience using SAGE
- Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong organizational skills as demonstrated by an ability to handle multiple priorities, problem solve and meet tight deadlines. A can-do attitude with the ability to effectively prioritize, project manage and multi-task

Volunteer Opportunities
Thank you for your interest in getting involved with the London Abused Women’s Centre. Due to COVID-19 restrictions and safety measurements we currently do not have any volunteer positions available within our agency. However, there are still ways you can get involved:
During the COVID-19 pandemic many women and girls find themselves isolated with their abuser. Please reach out to your colleagues, friends and family members if you believe they may be abused. Ask if that is the case. If so, believe them and offer support. Help them find services that can assist them in a safe manner.
We are using our social media platforms to stay in touch with the community. You can help us spread current information by following us on our social media and sharing our posts.
