Volunteer Opportunities

We Need You

Volunteers at the London Abused Women’s Centre are an essential, highly valued part of our team. We offer the following three volunteer opportunities: reception support, childcare, and special events. All volunteer roles include training, and a vulnerable sector check is required.

Childcare

Childcare volunteers work directly with the children of women accessing services at LAWC by providing a fun, safe, and recreational environment. A six-month, five-hour-per-month commitment is the minimum requirement for childcare volunteer applicants.

Special Events & Fundraising

The London Abused Women’s Centre is proud to offer our services for free. One of the ways we can do this is by fundraising. Throughout the year, LAWC holds a variety of different fundraising events of various sizes, including:

  • The International Women’s Day Breakfast

  • The Shine the Light on Woman Abuse Campaign

  • London Lightning Purple Game

Volunteers at fundraising events will help with selling 50/50 tickets, managing silent auctions, providing the community with information about LAWC, and more.

Reception Support

Reception support volunteers help with clerical duties, preparing for events, and welcoming clients into the building for appointments in a friendly and welcoming way. Those who apply to be reception support volunteers are asked for a minimum commitment of six months, two hours once or twice a month.
