18th Annual Runners' Choice Downtown Run
in support of the
London Abused Women's Centre

Join in the fun and excitement on Good Friday, April 2, 2010 at Victoria Park. The annual run in support of the London Abused Women's Centre will take off for the finish line beginning at 9:30am.

New to the event this year is the CEO 1K Run where leaders in the community offer pledges and race to the finish. Two prizes will be awarded in this category. The CEO with the best time crossing the finish line will collect the prestigious top prize trophy to bring back to his/her organization as will the CEO collecting the largest amount of pledges for the London Abused Women's Centre.

Also new this year is the Soccer Team Challenge issued by Ian Campbell, President of FC London. Teams will enter the 5K run in one of two categories - Under 18 and Under 13. In each category the team with the best overall average time would win a Domino's Pizza party. Each team will consist of a minimum of 6 runners and a maximum of 15 runners.

A third Domino's Pizza party will be awarded to the team (corporate, school, soccer, friends, family, any group of individuals, etc.) collecting the largest amount of pledges for the London Abused Women's Centre.

Each of the pizza parties consists of 10 pizzas courtesy of Domino's Pizza along with pop and juice supplied by Coca Cola.

Register your team early. Only the first 50 teams will be accepted.

In addition, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes will be distributed to individual runners collecting the largest amount of pledge money.

In order for pledges to qualify for any top prize, money/cheques must be handed in before the race begins.

Whether you enter the 5K, 2.5K, or 1K as an individual or as part of a team the goal is to:

  • raise awareness around the issue of ending violence and abuse against women
  • create a sense of community and have fun
  • raise some much-needed funds to support front-line services for abused women seeking service at the London Abused Women's Centre
